Former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay officially joined the BJP on Thursday, expressing his intent to contest against the allegedly corrupt state government. Welcomed by BJP workers and supporters at the Salt Lake office with traditional rituals.
Abhijit said "I joined the All India team. A party headed by Narendra Modi-Amit Shah. I want to work as a disciplined soldier of the team. Nothing special to say today. Our aim is to kick out a corrupt party in the state from West Bengal. So that they cannot come to power in 2026. I joined BJP to start a fierce fight against this corrupt government. I will fulfill whatever responsibility is given to me".
State BJP Central Observer Mangal Pandey said, "Taaps Roy has joined the BJP. Abhijit joined today. BJP's strength increased again. I welcome the former judge on behalf of the central leadership".
